I am Jonathan D. Miller, resident of Cary and a Wake County resident since 2007.
My family is from Pamlico County, North Carolina, going back several generations. However, it was my great misfortune to be born outside of the great state of North Carolina. I lived in Florida until I was 12, but I spent all my summers in Pamlico County. I then lived in New Jersey and New York for a decade-and-a-half, finally making it back to my home North Carolina in my late twenties.
I’ve worked in carpentry and owned a few small retail businesses for most of the last 20 years, which enabled me to learn firsthand how overregulation hurts workers and small business owners every day. And I’ve lived the effects of outdated laws on personal choices that lead to unfair consequences for non-violent people.
As a Libertarian, I stand for free speech, lower taxes, school choice for parents, and less government in our lives. I believe in individual responsibility over politician control. My goal is a freer North Carolina with true liberty and justice for all. Let’s build it together!
Too many families and businesses suffer from excessive government. Regulations protect special interests, not you. Taxes take your hard-earned money. Free speech faces threats. Outdated rules on personal choices fill prisons with non-violent people and waste resources better-used elsewhere. Schools limit parent choice. Healthcare has too many rules. Both parties fail to fix this.
I am running Libertarian for Senate District 16 to change it. I will push to lower taxes, reduce regulations, expand real school and healthcare choices, protect the First Amendment, end unfair punishments for victimless acts, and focus on real safety. Power belongs to citizens, not politicians. North Carolina thrives when people are free to speak, work, and choose responsibly. Liberty solves problems better than more laws.
